Why does my car stutter when it idles or when it's not getting gas?

It may have something to do with your oxygen sensor or air intake valve/tubing. Take your car to a reputable dealer or repair shop for a free check & estimate.

That indicates the engine isn't getting the fuel it should. It could be that the fuel pump or gas line is clogged to some degree. You should take it to a mechanic to further diagnose the problem. If you comfortable doing the work, it's neither expensive or difficult.

If you have a Check Engine Light, have a mechanic run a diagnostic. It could be a fuel sensor. Check your fuel injectors, injector coils and vacuum hoses. Make sure your plugs are securely fastened - maybe you have a misfire.

Any number of reasons, most of which would be fixed with a good tune-up. Dirty fuel filter, dirty air filter, worn spark plugs - all easy fixes.
