This is a hard problem to diagnose remotely, however I can suggest a few things. First of all, simple try turning the TV off and back on, maybe even unplugging it. Also, check if there is a setting you have changes. And lastly, see if there is a reset button somewhere on your TV.

You probably have the tv accidentally set to display the volume. Look for a button on the remote that says "Display," or something like it.

You don't mention what brand TV you have, but do the volume bars go away if you hit the exit button on your remote? If so, you may just need to change the display settings on your TV menu. Also, you should try using the volume buttons on the TV directly; there might be an issue with your remote control.

Try taking the batteries out of your remote and see if it is transmitting when it shouldn't be. Consult your users manual for more advice.

This is a software issue within the programing of the television itself. There is really nothing you can do except return the item to the store.

Try changing that either from the menu that you can access by pressing the "Menu" button on your control remote. If that fails, check for a button that says "Display" and see if that does anything.
