Why do people mix songs together?

Do they still pay royalties when they mix them?

When they collaborate music together, they call them remixes.I'm pretty sure that anyone using another artist's work has to pay some kind of royalties, or ask for permission.I assume the reason they do it,is to see what kind of hype it may produce.

People mix songs because it gives you variety all in one. So instead of getting bored by a song like you normally would when reaching the end of it, they take the best part of a few songs and put them together. Yes they do still pay royalties when they mix songs.
