There are a few reasons why grass is yellow. First, you may have a nitrogen deficiency or iron, you may need to fertilize. Second, if your yard has a lot of clay and a lot of rain your grass is drowning because there is not a lot of space between the sand particles you may need to replace dirt.

This may be a result of low iron levels in the leaf tissue or nitrogen deficiency. Try spraying an iron product (e.g., Ferriplus or Iron Plus) or applying a combination nitrogen-iron product such as Iron Plus. If your grass has a Take-All Root Rot (TARR)problem, apply sphagnum peat moss.

St. Augustine grass requires far more watering than bermuda grass, and will turn yellow when not adequately watered. Try watering it moderately a few days and see if this helps.

Yellow or brown grass is usually a sign of a couple of main things. Over fertilizing will cause this. Overly dry soil is another cause especially for new grass. The most common cause is grub worms under the soil. This can be treated with a pesticide.

Yellow streaks are caused by iron chlorosis, or low levels of iron in the soil. The main problem associated with soggy soils, is the lack of aerobic bacteria

The green color of the grass is due to the presence of chlorophyll pigment. They absorb red and blue color from the rays of sunlight and reflect the color of green. When chlorophyll pigment lower, the color changes to yellow because of the rays from sunlight.
