The flakes of skin under your beard might just be dry skin. If that is the case, you can apply some moisturizer to get relief. However, if the flakes persist, you might have a case of exczema. If that is the case, a trip to the dermatologist is in order and should be arranged soon.

You could have psoriasis or maybe dandruff. Another explanation could be you have dry skin and need some sort of moisturizer. You should wash your beard and see if that helps.

You can actually get dandruff in your beard, and this is probably what you have. Although it will take awhile, you can actually cure this by consistently shampooing your beard when you bathe and using a dandruff-control shampoo. If this doesn't work, stronger prescriptions are available.

The causes are similar to those of scalp dandruff - poor diet, stress, dehydration, lack of sunlight, etc. Try shampoooing your beard with dandruff shampoo, and drink more water.

I would give this product called Prosanol a try. It is from Swedish Skin Care and is for chronic dry skin, it has helped me out a lot.
