Why did the oil business move from Shreveport, Louisiana to Houston?

I believe that the oil business has moved due to traffic. There is more opportunity in Houston and there is easier access to the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm not sure but I think it had to do with the mechanisms of the factory. They were being offered a higher rate in Houston and also more facilities for the transportation of the oil. Therefore, it was a strategical move for the company and it had a lot to do with the cost factor.

There are many reasons for this move. Houston is more centrally located for the oil industry, being closer to more productive fields and to a major port. It is also a much larger city, and one to which it is easier to attract people to live. Lastly, the tax structure is somewhat more favorable.
