It sounds like you are choosing not to be with him because nobody in your family likes him. In ten years, you won't be speaking to this guy, but your family will still be there for you. It sounds like you are making a wise decision.

Your family means a lot to you as they will be there unconditionally so of course you care about what they think.

Is it possible that you care too much about what your family thinks? If you really love him and he loves you, then you have the right to be together
