Between 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson invented the first means of electric transport. An electric car, on a small scale was designed by Stratingh from Netherlands and was built later.

The Hybrid vehicle was started in the 1700's. In 1769 a Frenchman built the first hybrid, a steam powered car that was capable of 6 MPH..

well originitly Ferdinand veibiest started steam cars .then in 1839 robert anderson from scottland ,then soloman. England used electric taxis in 1886. then in 1897 london electric cab had a fleet. pope manufactoring made 500 that year. then we move to now in 1997 toyota realeased the prius for sale in the us..

In the 1800s and early 1900s, there were several experiments with electric cars and hybrid vehicles. The first modern mass-produced Hybrid, though, was the Japanese market Toyota Prius, in 1997. In 1999, the Honda Insight became the first mass market US hybrid. The US market Prius was introduced one year later.
