Right now there are no left-handed shortstops in major league baseball. However in the past there have been a few. Bill Hulen is the most famous left handed shortstop, he played 73 games in 1896 with the Phillies. Wee Willie Keeler also played shortstop, 2nd, and 3rd base from 1892-1910.

George Van Haltren was the only left handed shortstop ever in the history of baseball. He played 79 games in the national league. A left handed shortstop has a tough time make certain throws and thats why you dont see many in the major leagues. i am sure there are a few in the minor leagues though

..continued from above..I turned towards first as I came up from fielding the ball, and it was a great advantage for the double play, as I was close to second. I stopped tons of line drives and grounders that would have gotten to centerfield. Lefties Unite!

I am left-handed, and played shortstop for most of my athletic life. I actually think it can be an advantage. I played a few feet of of second, right on the edge of the grass. There appeared to be a hole between short and third, but there was not!
