The transmission plug on a chevy malibu is directly on the bottom of the transmission. The best way to get to it is jack up the car and put safety stands under both sides of the car before you crawl under to check the transmission. You will find the plug on the bottom of the transmission.

your tranny is most likely a 4T40E and does not have a dipstick, the drain and fill plugs are very hard to get to,(located above the rt side cv axle) there are dealer tools to check the fluid or flush it with a machine

If you have a manuel transmission, there isn't any plug. For an automatic, check carefully as the dipstick may have come out. Different models, there isn't a dipstick on the vehicle. You have to take it to a shop so they can drain and replace the fluid. To check, take the plu off the pan and check for fluid.

Certain model vehicles don't come with a factory installed transmission drain pan. IF you cant find it you will just have to carefully drop one side of the pan.

On a chevy Malibu, just jack up the car high enough for you to get under it. Start the engine and change gears. Let the wheels spin for a while. You will normally find the transmission plug under the vehicle. On a 3. 1, it is on the back of the pan on the tranny.

The plug is located on the back of the pain of the transmission. In order for you to properly detect it you would need to jack the car up.
