In the engine compartment locate the fire wall passenger side. You'll see a small black switch which will have a black ruber cover on it. This is the Inertia switch. If you need to reset it for any reason simply press it down once.

It is the switch that stops the vehicle in a rollover or crash. Since the inertia levels at the time of a crash are high this switch controls the vehicle when levels of inertia get over a certain amount that would indicate to the sensors that the vehicle has been involved in an accident.

that's a problem with modern sophisticated vehicles - more sensors, more wires and more stuff that can cause errors!  add a comment

While resetting the inertia switch is easy -just press it once- it's important to find out why it got activated in the first place. It's an electrical component and you will need to check for loose wires or corrosion - otherwise the problem will recur in your Range Rover.

If the problem recurs please getan expert to check out your security system - it could be a major problem with the sensors or wiring.  add a comment
