Where do you buy masquerade gowns for a ball?

I's going to a masquerade ball at my boyfriend's college.

I have been to a masquerade where people are dressed like flappers and mobsters (try your local vintage shop for a dress), medieval knights and ladies (this would require a costume shop), or a formal dress (a department store would be a good bet).

If you have a vintage dress shop near you, you may be in luck as they sometimes carry gowns like that. Otherwise my advice would be to search the internet and get it delivered right to your door. The cost could pinch your pocket so if all else fails, consider finding a pattern for the dress and getting it made.

for a cheap and quick solution, try check out your local second hand stores and yard sales. you might have to have it tailored a bit before the ball

Buy them from renaissance clothing companies and fairs, and halloween/costume stores. They can also sometimes be purchased at second-hand stores. Plus pattern companies have the patterns to make your own.
