The pilot light should be located behind the bottom cover on your water heater. If you look at where the gas line goes into the heater and then remove the cover you should see the nozzle where you light the pilot. Make sure to follow the lighting instructions.

Locate the thermostat (square box). Below this is a "outer door", remove it. Next, is "inner door", remove it. Pilot light inside opening. Relight and re-attach all parts.

Follow the plumbing. Your gas comes into the pilot control and the goes to the pilot via a small copper tube, along with the thermocouple. Don't disassemble the valve or unseal the combustion chamber if it is sealed.

At the top end of the heater you can locate the pilot light. You are not seeing it probably it will not be lit and stay lit in low pressure. See that the pressure is proper.

You need to follow the piping, the gas goes to a pilot control and to the pilot light bit through a small copper pipe, I think you should find this at the bottom of your water heater.

If you have the users manual that came with your water heater it should provide the information you need to find the pilot light for your particular model. Reliance also has a website. From their website you can access the instruction manuals for each of their products. You can also contact your local heating and air dealer for advice.

The pilot light on this type of water heater would normally be located somewhere near the entrance of the engine.
