This is a fairly broad question becomes there are many different models of your type of car. I would either consult a mechanic personally, or refer to your user manual.

the Ford Engine can be found pretty much the same place you would find the engine id on any vehicle. you would have to raise the vehicle or place it in a position where you have easy access to the engine block and read the number off it. which is basically right on the engine.

On new ford models it is located on valve cover. First look at casting by oil filter. It has a block you can see. A more easier way to find the code is 8th digit number on VIN that is invisible outside through windshield.

The best thing is to take your VIN number and then disect it and it will tell you what kind of engine you have in the code.

The Ford engine id is typically located in the VIN number. The VIN number is located on the driver dashboard where the glass meets the dash. It is also located in the door jamb. Refer online or your owners manual for the decode.

Typically the ID numbers for the car and engine are located in the engine bay. On some cars it's stamped into the crossbar over the radiator. On other cars it's stamped into the underside of the hood. It can sometimes be found on the right or left side of the engine bay, possible on the inside of the quarter panels.

There should be an identification number somewhere on your engine. They are in different places depending on the make and model. You may need a manual for your car.
