When was Abraham Lincoln elected president?

I heard he was appointed, not elected.

The question of slavery was enormous throughout the country, so the presidential election of 1860 was an important one. Northern Dems supported Lincoln's rival, Sen. Stephen Douglas. Lincoln did well in the election, which was 11/6/1860, particularly in the North, but got less than 40% of the popular vote. The electoral college sealed his election in a landslide.

Abraham lincoln was elected president on november 6, in the year 1860. He was our nation's 16th president and he was was the first republican to be elected into office.
