pregnancy

When is it okay to start buying baby things when you are pregnant?

I am three months pregnant and would love to start buying things for my baby, but am unsure it is to early or not.

I would advise waiting until the 5th or 6th month before starting to make baby purchases. Not to discourage, but often the chance of miscarriage is high until the 5th - 6th month. If you wait to buy until later in your pregnancy, you can buy items that are gender specific.

Some people wait until 20 weeks (especially if they have had prior miscarriages), often out of superstition. Others wait until they know the sex, or until after the shower, so they know what they still need. There's no real rule, though. Start shopping if you want; some people prefer to start early rather than rush at the end.

You can buy some things now, but you probably would be better off waiting another couple of months. First of all, you will want to know your baby's gender, as this will guide buying clothes and more. Also, you may get many items as gifts from a baby shower.

Its never too early. It can be helpful to spread your spending out over the pregnancy. Try to shop where you register so others don't buy the same things.

It really depends on if you want to buy boy/girl clothes or not. If you wanted to buy neutral color clothes (yellow, green, etc), I say go for it.
