When does a savings bond reach maturity?

The savings bonds are normally classified by their maturity. Maturity is calculated from the date of issuance which is specified on the bond.

Savings bond maturity is the date when the bond will stop earning interest.Bonds of all types have values face depending upon the date of maturity,therefore, it would be advised to redeem matured bonds and put the money back to work for the holder.Federal tax require all interest income to be reported for the year of final maturity.

There are two types of savings bonds, EE Bonds and I Bonds. EE Bonds mature in 20 years. I Bonds mature in 30 years.
