Try introducing the babies to a shallow litter tray at 3 weeks of age when they start on solid foods although success may not be immediate.

You cannot start the day they are born. For the first few weeks of their life, the mother has to use her tongue to get the kittens to "make". When they reach about six weeks of age they can start going by themselves. When they start going on their own is when you need to start.
