What's in Miracle Gro that is bad for worms?

I have heard that putting Miracle Gro down will also kill worms.

Some gardening experts say that we should avoid the Organic Miracle Gro mix because of the wetting agent used with has nitrogen, soluble potash and phosphates. It has a synthetic salt based chemistry in it which would be bad for worms. My research indicates that is the product to avoid.

So, so true. A lot of stuff sold as organic really isn't organic at all. I picked up a book on organic ingredients and learned a lot about it that way.  add a comment

I've got lots of worms in my soil and I use Miracle grow all the time. All I can say is that the Miracle grow stuff is NOT killing the worms in my yard. I've got pretty rich soil though and since worms aerate the soil I want them around.

Miracle Gro will not harm soil or earthworms. The ingredients are composed of three major nutrients which plants love and need in order to flourish but it does nothing to increase the health of the soil. The more rich the soil the more chances worms will be found in it.
