I would suggest a blue spruce, not only is it your state's tree but it is very low maintenance. The lack of maintenance include the fact blue spruce are resistant to decease, have low water needs, absorbs nutrients in a high pH soil, and does not shed lots of needles.

Visit a reputable nursery for the best suggestions for the kinds of trees that are good for your zone and well as the position on your property. That's the best way to avoid trees that drop a lot of debris.
