If you want a good quality reliable crossbow at a good price, it would be worth your while to check out Horton. BowTech's Stryker is a high-end crossbow which can shoot at 405 fps if you are willing to pay $1500.00 or so. The Excalibur is less expensive and still shoots at a respectable 350 fps.

One that doesn't break. It must be silent when used to avoid detection. It should be appropriately camouflaged, to protect its user from detection. Finally it should be durable to withstand heavy use.

If it is for target shooting then it would depend on the distance. As for hunting then again it would depend on thee animal in question.

It has to have an easy cocking mechanism. Dont worry about strenth but sharp broadheads. The scope will be a personal preference.

Depends upon what type and for what purpose, there are different crossbow's for different purposes like hunting, muscle building, and for target practice.
