What were the virtues of Baucis and Philemon?

The moral virtue demonstrated by Baucis and Philemon was hospitality. Zeus and Hermes disguised themselves as a poor peasants in need of shelter. In the ancient times, the poor were looked down upon as disgusting and unworthy of humane treatment. Baucis and Philemon were the only people in town who would accommodate the poor men.

Their virtues were generosity and their love for one another. They were always willing to help those in need even if it meant going without themselves. Baucis and Philemon could not live without each other. The Gods granted their wish to always be together

Their vitues were those of pity and hospitality. They welcomed the gods Zeus and Hermes into their home, even when they were disguised as ordinary peasants.
