The Lord's Prayer, or "Our Father," can be found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke (6:9-13 and 11:2-4 respectively). This prayer is said directly to the Father, as done by Jesus Himself. However, saints can intercede on behalf of someone; praying to them to intercede is thus orthodox.

Jesus told us in the book of John that when we pray, we should pray to the God directly Luke 11:2-4, which in his faith (Catholicism) is known as the Our Father. However, You husband prays to Mary because he believes she works as a medium to God.

Adding to others' answers, here's proof man doesn't need to pray to/through Mary, Catholic priests, or others "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Tim 2:5; Jesus says to Mary, "Woman, what have I to do with thee?" John 2:4

In John 16, Jesus is explaining some last-minute instructions to his 12 disciples about who He really is and what will happen after he is crucified. Then beginning in John 17:1, he teaches them the Lord's Prayer by praying directly to the Father.

Jesus gave us the very best example of how to pray when He told His disciples... "This is how YOU should pray, 'OUR FATHER, who art in heaven.... ' The Lord's prayer!

Do you need the Bible to tell you everything? Is the voice of God that speaks directly to your heart not enough... wow, that's praying directly to Him
