What type of cake is best under fondant?

I would appreciate suggestions and if you could direct me to a recipe.

Almost any cake as long as it is firm. A sturdy cake is best for fondanting so it will hold up to being covered. Think pound cake more than genoise.

Any kind of cake will work, I prefer something less sweet because the fondant will make up for it. Try chocolate cake

I have already tried with a mud cake, and works FANTASTIC, but sometimes I rather use a vainilla one, have tried with one I do often, but happens not to be firm enough...any suggestion? A recipe would be really appreciated. Thanks  add a comment
