What tool is needed in order to remove a toilet flange?

I am trying to replace my toilet flange and can not seem to get it off can you provide me with tips and what tools are needed?

It depends on the piping material. Plastic pipe is glued together and cannot just be removed. A brass flange on lead pipe will need a hammer to peen back the lead and a screwdriver to remove the flange screws. A flange on copper is soldered together permanently and would not be easily removed.

Main tool needed to remove the toilet flange is a screw driver. If is dirty clean it with HCl acid and use a small shovel/spade to carve it.
