What special things do I need to do if my Yorkshire terrier is in heat?

She is an inside dog and I am worried about her getting blood all over my carpet and furniture?

You can get doggie diapers for a dog that is in heat. They protect the carpets and furniture and also provide protection from accidental breeding while the dog is in heat. If you are not looking to breed however you might want to look into having the dog spayed.

There are several different types of dog diapers/pants available at your local pet store made especially for dogs in heat. If the dog refuses to wear them then another option would be confining her to an uncarpeted area with a baby gate. If you don't plan on breeding her, having her spayed would be the best and a permanant solution.

You can buy doggy diapers for your dog so she doesn't get blood all over your house. You just put them on her and change them like you do a diaper on a baby. Other than getting her spayed that is about all you can do for her. It will go away in a few days.

First off, you should seriously consider getting her spayed because unwanted puppies are crowding shelters and many of them get euthanized when they haven't been adopted. It is also healthier for your dog to be spayed. That said, they do make small diapers for dogs who are in heat that will prevent blood from getting on your belongings.
