What special features does a plasma TV have to have to be outdoors?

No special features required, although special installation necessary. Outdoors not ideal unless temperature controlled. TV needs weather proofing, venting as plasma tv's produce heat and use a surge protector.

An outdoor plasma TV should be engineers to be weather sealed to prevent water intrusion which would damage the electronics and should have a matte surface on the screen to stop sunlight or ambient light interfering with the viewing experience by producing glare on the screen. Glare would reduce the viewing experience and make it difficult to see the image.

In order to be outdoors safely, a Plasma Television would need to be completely enclosed, or otherwise completely waterproof, or it would be shorted out.

It has to have an eclosed case so that rain and types of debris dont get into the compotents of the system. Often a a plastic screen that reduces glare, while protecting the screen, is needed as well.
