Rear engine mowers are designed for people who have smaller lawns, but still want to ride on a mower. It is designed for yards that are less than one acre in area. You typically have to lift your seat up in order to access your engine, for when you change your oil.

They're great just for mowing, but if you plan on doing other things with it, for example; plowing or towing, it might be better to get a front engine mower. As they're essentially small tractors, they tend to have more power and better traction, as well as a hitch fitted from factory.

They go up hills like none other. However, care must be taken in order to prevent problems such as skidding and loss of control, especially while descending a grade. These problems are not insoluble though. Rear engine tractors are fantastic deals for the performance and cost and get the job done.

rear engine mowers are very good mowers. the weight of the engine helps provide traction when using the mower on different slopes.

The best thing I can think of is that they are a type of riding lawn mower and that you'd have to be careful about backing into things.
