Plant gladiolas in an area with full sun and good drainage. You need to keep the area well weeded and as soon as they 5 to 6 inces tall you should spray them with an insectide to protect them. During growing periods you should water them with at least an inch of water and more during high temperatures.

I have been in the flower business most of my life. Flower shops fun in my family. Gladiolas require water and do grow tall. There is also medicine (powder) to mix in with water in come cases. This is what I know about gladiolas.

Your gladiola need to receive full sun to grow well. They should be planted in well drained soil after any dangers of frost have passed. Gladiolas need about 1 inch of water per week. At the end of the growing seasons the bulbs may by dug up and stored for replanting the following year.
