Take off the nozzle on the unplugged hairdryer, and vacuum the screen filter, as it can become clogged. Unscrew the dryer's body so you can see the components. Anything like clumped hair or melted plastic will be obvious. If your repairing doesn't work, purchase a new hair dryer

This is one of the appliances that I think you should throw out. They are cheap to buy and unless you know something about hot wired appliances, you just as well buy a new one.

Usually a big problem with hair dryers is dust. Take off the end cap and use a computer duster to blow it out. Be careful that the coils are clean.
