Dogs need attention, exercise, a regular diet, and at least a yearly vet check. Taking them to obedience class is a good idea so that you don't have behavior problems and regular exercise is a must. An unexercised dog is more likely to have behavior issues. By giving them regular exercise they are less likely to cause problems.

The first thing you should do is get your pet enrolled in a training class, and do not try to teach it things such as house breaking if they are to young to catch on it will just be frustrating for you and him.

One of your first tasks it to make sure that anything within the dogs reach is dog-friendly or dog-proof. Make sure any plants you have aren't harmful if your dog eats them, and that hes got a nice bed to sleep in and fresh water and food.

Get some exercise. Pick up chicks, all girls love dogs. Teach your dog tricks, such as rolling over or jumping through a hoop.

First, take your dog to the vet to make sure he is healthy and has all his needed vaccinations. The vet can also give you advice about how to best care for your new dog.

You should be sure to get your dog the things it needs. The basic must haves are; a bowl, collar, leash, food and some toys. Next be sure to dog proof your home. Some plants are toxic to dogs. Be sure to pick up things you don't want him to chew on.
