Firstly, you will need to examine the area carefully. Check for swollen areas or tenderness. The bump could be an infection from nursing.

If you pump your breast for milk and red puss comes out of your breast it means you have an infection. Get medical attention.

If you are breastfeeding or pumping milk out of the breast, nothing should come out except milk. If anything strange or colorful (like blood) come out while pumping, go the the emergency room.

This is usually a sign of infection. You could have a clogged duct or a yeast infection has been transfered from the baby's mouth to your breast. It could also be an abscess in your breast which can be a serious condition. This is something that should be discussed with your doctor.

You have an infection and it is currently bleeding. Continue to pump but do not feed the breast milk to your child until you've been seen by a doctor.

Go to see a doctor immediately, this is most likely an infection in your breast or in the nipple area. Check for cracked or broken skin and treat. Do not breastfeed from that breast and stop using the pump until you see a doctor.

You should definitely see your doctor as soon as possible. Continue pumping; clogged milk ducts will only cause further problems. Do not feed your baby any contaminated or bloody milk.

If red puss filled the pump on your breast then you should not breast feed a baby. Dispose of any breast milk and contact your doctor. There might be an infection and you do not want to pass that on to a baby. To avoid being engorged, you may continue to pump then dump the milk.

You need to call your doctor and explain exactly what has happened. It sounds like you have an infection in your breast. I would do this asap because you should not feed the baby until you know what the cause is. It may be something you could pass on to him/her.

Puss indicates a serious infection. Red indicates there is bleeding. You probably have an infection in a lymph gland, and you should see a doctor fairly quickly as you are pumping to feed a baby I would assume.
