What should I do if my Illinois summons has the wrong name on it?

You should visit the court and alert them that your summons has the wrong name. Be sure to bring proof such as your state ID and other documents.

If the name is not yours, notify the court. If the name is merely misspelled, you can point this out when you appear.

I don't think it would matter to the court - they would just want you to correct the spelling. You still need to show up for your obligation.

Go to the courthouse and make sure you are the actual person they are seeking and not another person with that name and ask them to rewrite the summons correctly

File an ex-parte summons in the same court or court of origin, now showing the right name on it. Be sure to indicate that the first summon was changed and the second has the name.
