What should I do if my dog bit another dog?

Answer by  kfwyatt (138)

The first thing that should be done is to tell the other dog's owner. Secondly, try to keep the dogs separated to prevent future episodes.

Restrain your dog, and see if the owners come for the other dog. Then if your dog was the aggressor, offer to pay the medical bills. Buy a muzzle.

Well, if they are in the process of biting the other dog, keep out of it as you may be bitten as well. If there is not injury to the other dog, all is well. If there is a sustained injury, yank you pooch and run from a possible lawsuit.

You should immmediately quarantine your animal and report this incident to the SPCA or local humane society. You should also check the local and state laws to see if you are susceptable to a lawsuit, and if so, you need to immediately contact the other owner and or a lawyer.
