What should I do if my circuit breaker won't reset?

Turn off ALL electrical devices in the home. Attempt to reset breaker. If it won't reset, breaker is defective. Have an electrician replace it. If it resets, turn on electrical devices one at a time and see which one trips the breaker. You might have too much of a load on that one breaker. Redistribute the load.

Unresettable breakers mean short circuit between the breaker and receptacle, a failed breaker (or shorted appliance),. Warning: do not reset yet! Unplug EVERYTHING on that circuit. If it then resets, you have a dangerous shorted appliance. If not, call an electrician before proceeding. If reset works, examine appliances for signs of heat damage. Replace/repair as applicable. Be safe!

Try opening the main breaker, then reset it again. If that doesn't work, you can ry replacing the breaker, but you probably have a wiring problem somewhere to fix first.

Call an electrician. There is a break in the circuit, it is overloaded, or the GFI has tripped. Either way it is not user friendly.
