What should I do if my adopted dog pees in my house?

Is it because he's having trouble adapting?

Be patient. It could be problems with adapting easily, along with the shock of new environment. Take him out often and reward him when he does it outside.

If the dog was previously housebroken then the stress of moving is likely the cause of this behavior. Housebreak him as you would any other dog by take him out frequently and after each meal to encourage the elimination outside of the house.

First take him to the vet to make sure he's completely healthy physically. Certain illnesses, such as URI's, can make a dog pee in the house when he otherwise wouldn't.

It may be due to anxiety and insecurity. One method to stop your dog doing this would be to watch him for signs of peeing, and just before he starts, squirt him with a water bottle, or make a loud noise, then lead him outside.
