What should I do if my A/C condenser coil freezes?

You should shut off the pump and allow it to thaw. Never place hot water on the coils as they could crack.

To get your coil unfrozen, turn off your air conditioner and turn just the fan on. Letting the fan run will melt any ice build up.

You need to check out the filter drier and refrigerant charge. A low charge can cause it to freeze and a clogged filter drier or metering device can do so as well. Get a technician to check it for you if you don't have the equipment.

Have the unit serviced by a proffessional, The coil needs cleaning or the pressures are not proper. I dont advise trying to clean the coils yourself they can be damaged easily. Then it gets very expensive to replace the evaporater coil.
