If this is happening a lot, you should probably reevaluate how you are flossing. You may be flossing too hard if you keep cutting yourself. It is also possible that your gums are extra sensitive due to gum disease.

If you come across this problem,do not let your gum to bleed. Immediately get some antiseptic ointment and apply on the affected areas.

Talk to your dentist, as sensitive gums may be symptomatic of certain disease. Be very gentle while flossing, and use a hydrogen peroxide, water solution to rinse daily.

You should continue to floss daily. After a few days your gums will stop bleeding. Often gums bleed because you haven't been flossing daily. Once you get into a routine, your gums will become used to the flossing.

Bleeding gums are usually a sign that your gums are inflamed. This is early indicator of gingivitis (gum disease). Make sure you are brushing and flossing regularly (at least on a daily basis), and you should notice some improvement and less bleeding within a couple of weeks. Smoking can also contribute to bleeding gums and gum disease.

Do nothing but floss more. Maybe you are doing it too hard. Try getting another type of floss and see if that helps. It could be that your not flossing enough and your gums are not healthy and that is why they are bleeding.
