If the container is for drinking water it must comply with regulations. It must other wise fit in with the plumbing, be of adequate size, and fit where you want to place it. Any supports must be able to bear the weight when full. You should be able to anchor it and remove it easily if needed.

When choosing water holding tanks you should consider the size, the cost, and the material of the tanks. Storage is a legitimate issue in that you must also consider whether the tanks will be underground or above ground. If the tanks go undergound, you will have to adhere to local "dig safe" regulations.
