Biotin is a vitamin that is necessary for proper energy metabolism and for growth. Deficiency can result in pain and weakness of the muscles, depression, fatigue, high blood cholesterol, anemia, loss of appetite and nausea, sleeplessness, spotty loss of hair, elevated blood sugar, dry skin, and a grayish cast to the skin.

A deficiency in biotin may result in skin problems like dry skin, fungal infection, scaly dermatitis, muscle pain, depression, hair loss or alopecia, anorexia, slight anemia and hyperesthesia.
