Chunky soup usually refers to soup that is not pureed or smooth in consistency. Chunky soup can contain pieces of beef, potatoes, or fish depending on the type of soup.

Soups are considered chunky when there are huge portions. There are big pieces of vegetables and tons of meat. Whats not considered chunky is water based soups. Theres more water than ingredients.
