What makes a person southern?

I'm interested in all aspects of what makes you southern.

A southern person is most literally a person from the Southern United States. Specific accents and behaviors will indicate to others that a person is from the south.

They speak with a drawl. They like the weather warm. Women are less independent in the south and make less money than in other areas of the country. They are more laid back in general. Things happen at a slower pace.

A "southern" person is a person born and raised in the southern region of any given country.

A person who was born and raised in the south is one who can and should be considered southern. For the most part they all have a distinct southern accent which differs amnong the southern states. Southerners eat certain foods, and live certain lifestyles, but in many ways they are the same as everyone else.

Well saying yes mam and yall could make you southern. But having a generous personallity and being very hospitable is a big characteristic. My fiancee is from Ky and he is very generous.
