This tree can survive in different kinds of soils with a good drainage system and tropical weather conditions. A nitrogen based fertilizer for palms ensures it gets needed nutrients.

They will grow in any well-drained soil, which includes sandy or rocky. Foxtail Palms thrive best in the sun rather than the shade. In the cooler months, occasional watering is needed. For the rest of the year, it is best to regularly provide deep watering to the Foxtail, but be careful not to over-water it.

Any soil rich in nitrates and phosphates - like most plants. Elevated iron content also will keep this plant healthy, although it will not enhance the size of the plant.

Usually with these plants the richer and more air rated the soil is the better the plants do for you.

As with all palms, they are a tropical plant and need a sandy soil for growing. But they can tolerate a wide variety of well drained soils, including alkaline limestone soils.
