What kind of climate is necessary to grow avocados?

Can I grow them in Oklahoma?

Avocados can be grown is the areas with sub-tropical climate, e.g. in California, meaning dry summer and mild winter.

The climate must be tropical,that is free from frost,with little wind, humid and with well aerated soil. No the Oklahoma climate is not well suited to the growing of avocados.

im thinking in a warmer climate but i have grown one in a pot on my porch and i live in ohio so it can grow here

I live in New York and I can't grow the here I believe they have to have a really nice tropical climate to do well in but you could ask at your local nursery i'm sure they would know.
