Many metal instrumentalists tend to use either Peavy or Marshall amplifiers, but it is the effects which matter. You won't be able to hear it in a metal room anyway.
Depends on the sub-genre of metal. Lots of the solo/shred metal players like Mesa Boogie amps, but lots of the slower doom metal bands prefer SunnO))) amps. It's preference.
