The most common allergies that cause itchy palates are food allergies. many people that are allergic to foods including shellfish, nuts, and eggs experience itchy sensations on the roof of their mouths when they consume these foods.

I have a serious allergy to thin skinned fruits. It causes an itchy palate. This is because I am allergic to the acid in the fruit. It also stems from an allergy to trees and their fruits/nuts. If these foods are processed the harmful acids are no longer present.

There are some food allergies that can give one an itchy palate. Most of these are related to eating shellfish or crustaceans. Some allergies that can also give a swollen or itchy palate are peanuts, dairy, or other seafood.

If it is indeed your palate the obvious place to look would be food. There are several categories (shellfish, nuts, wheat) to which many people have a reaction. Think back over things you've tasted in the last day and consider any other allergies you may have now. Good Luck!
