Toads will eat insects and worms. You may want to try to find out what kind of toad it is, and be sure to wash your hands after handling the toad before touching your mouth or eyes. They can secrete toxins which can be irritating or toxic to other pets.

Toads are wild animals who live on a variety of small insects that they catch. The selection of insects varies, depending on where the toad lives. It will also hibernate. A toad should not be kept in captivity. The likelihood that you can provide a healthy diet and/or lifestyle is slim, so better to release it.

Go to the local pet store and get some crickets, also a powder vitamin to sprinkle on them for some extra nutrients. Also minnows, slugs, and worms will be good to feed. At least 2-3 times a week.

If you have a pet toad, you must feed it live food, the food has to be moving or it will not eat it.
