i WOULD SAY THE SENSATION IS BEING CAUSED BY the bruising left after the nerve was removed. That area will be sensitive until healed. If you feel pain, you may need to have it checked to make sure the nerve is totally removed.

The nerve was removed and the body is reacting to it and not sure what to feel. There can be some ghost pains that there is a nerve there when it is not really there. This is the main cause and should go away in a few days time and get better.

The sensation is most likely some sort of "nerve memory. " It will go away after time. However, if the sensation is pain and the pain is persistent then I would visit another dentist for a second opinion in case it was a botched job.

It may be that the dentist did not get all of the nerve out of the tooth, call your dentist as soon as possible.

The root canal in your case was done 3 days back. The strange sensation may be due to many causes like whether the pulp was totally extirpated or not, nerves involved in that area, infection if any was totally drained or not. If the sensation persists kindly visit a dentist.
