The worst way to break up with someone is to do it remotely, instead of in person. Via text message is probably the most insulting, because it is so impersonal. It is considered degrading because you did not even bother to call, but merely input the text. Emails are also a bad way to break up with someone.

With all the options available out there, sending a text message that says - We are done don't call - would be cold and heartless.

One bad way to end a relationship is by starting a new relationship before ending your previous one and then claim that you've found someone else. Another is simply just disappearing and not talking to the person again, which is not very mature. Then there is breaking up by text message, email, or phone call. These are considered rude.
