Cars, are prone to the accumilation small particle in the passenger compartment air. Regular air filters do well to trap larger particles in the air, but smaller ones like pollen and some dust particles pass right through. A microfilter is an electrostactically charge filter that attracts these smaller particles and removes them from the air that passes through it.

Well I assume that by "microfilter" your are referring to the cabin filter installed on certain cars. This is a filter similar to a engines air filter however instead of filter dirt from the air it also filter unwanted odors from the air entering the cabin of a car.
